How we build

We build websites properly. The tools just make it faster.

Strategy, structure, design and copy are decisions, and decisions need judgement. We make them, on every page, the same way we always have. What has changed is the production work in between: modern tooling clears it out of the way, so your site is live sooner and more of your budget goes into the thinking that actually moves the needle.

The work that counts

What actually decides whether a website works.

None of it is typing. Every one of these is a judgement call, made by someone who has built enough sites to know how it plays out.

Knowing the customer

Who is actually going to land on this page, what they are worried about before they call, and what would make them pick you over the next name on the list.

Structure

Which pages exist, what each one is for, and the route from first click to enquiry. Get this wrong and no amount of design rescues it.

Design and hierarchy

What the eye lands on first, what earns trust in the three seconds before someone decides to stay, and what to leave out.

The words

What you say, in what order, in language your customers actually use. Most websites fail here long before they fail technically.

Performance

How fast it loads on a phone on mobile data, how it behaves on every screen size, and whether it holds up under real conditions.

Being found

Built from the ground up to be crawled, understood and ranked, rather than treated as something to bolt on afterwards.

The process

Thinking first. Building second.

The order matters. Most of the decisions that determine how a site performs are made before anything is designed.

Before we design anything

Where the outcome is decided
  • A proper conversation about the business, the customers and what a good month looks like
  • What the site has to achieve, and how we will know whether it has
  • The page structure and the path from landing to enquiry, agreed before a pixel moves
  • What you are up against locally, and where the gap is

Then we build it

Where the time is saved
  • Design direction and layout, decided by us and reviewed with you
  • Construction, tested on real devices rather than a browser window
  • Performance, accessibility and search set-up checked before launch
  • Launch, indexing, and support from the person who built it

Where the line sits

What we decide, and where the tools help.

Every studio uses tooling now. What separates them is what they still insist on deciding themselves. Here is ours, in plain terms.

Ours, every time

The decisions that make or break it
  • Every design, layout and creative decision
  • Your strategy, structure and conversion path
  • The final wording of every headline and paragraph
  • What gets left out, which is usually the harder call
  • A line-by-line review of everything before it reaches you
  • The conversation, the understanding, the judgement

Where tooling helps

Production, not decisions
  • The repetitive, boilerplate code every site needs
  • Turning a decided layout into a first working build
  • First drafts from a brief we have already written
  • Surfacing technical and search issues for us to assess
  • Turning messy analytics into something readable

A better analogy than most: a joiner with a track saw is still a joiner. The tool makes the cut faster and cleaner. It has no opinion about the kitchen.

Standards

What we will not do.

Powerful tools raise the ceiling. Standards decide whether you reach it. Here is how we hold ours.

We do not feed a prompt into a site generator and ship itThose "describe your business, get a website" tools produce something generic. That is not a Cribbar site.
We do not use Wix AI, Durable or 10Web buildersGenerator-tier tools are a different product at a different price point. We build properly.
We do not publish AI-drafted content unreadA first draft is a tool. Everything you publish is edited, fact-checked and finished by us.
We do not call AI output "finished"Nothing reaches you without a human going over it properly, line by line.

What it means for you

You get more, for less, without the corners cut.

Faster turnaround

Less time lost to repetitive production means your site is designed, built and live in a fraction of the usual time.

Honest pricing

A site built this way comes in cheaper than a comparable WordPress build, because you pay for craft and strategy, not hours of manual assembly.

Still fully bespoke

No templates, no generator output. Every site is designed around your business, your customers and your goals.

Prefer to self-edit?

Custom-coded or WordPress?

We build both, so we will always point you to whichever genuinely fits your business, not whichever is easier for us.

Custom-coded site

Fastest, most bespoke
  • The fastest possible loading and top performance scores
  • Pixel-perfect, completely bespoke design
  • Rock-solid security with almost nothing to maintain
  • Best when you are happy for us to handle content changes

WordPress site

Best for editing it yourself
  • You add pages, posts and products yourself, any time
  • Ideal for blogs, shops and content that changes often
  • A huge ecosystem of tools and integrations
  • Best when independence and self-editing matter most

Straight answers

The questions people actually ask.

No. Tooling might produce a first pass or handle boilerplate, but every design decision and every published word is directed and finished by us. You're getting a site built by a person, using good tools, not a site generated by a machine.
We do, every time. Nothing reaches you unread. The person reviewing your site is the same person who designed and built it, and the same person you will deal with afterwards.
No problem at all. We design and build WordPress sites too, and can work with other platforms if your business needs one. A custom-coded build comes in cheaper and faster, but the choice is always yours.
Because most agencies charging traditional rates use the exact same tools we do, they just do not tell you. We would rather be honest about how your site is built and price it fairly than pretend it is all done the slow, expensive way.
The opposite. The time saved on repetitive work goes straight back into your design, your content and your conversion path. The parts a visitor actually feels get more human attention, not less.
